Pesticide Applicator Recertification

Pesticide Applicator Recertification

Proper pesticide use is critical for protecting plant health, the environment, and both worker and public safety. BCLNA supports both landscape and grower professionals in renewing their Pesticide Applicator Certification.

BCLNA's Recertification Program for Pesticide Applicator Certificates

The BC Landscape and Nursery Association (BCLNA) is proud to be ministry approved to manage the Recertification Program for Pesticide Applicator Certificates. This program supports agriculture and landscape professionals in maintaining their certifications and staying current with industry standards.

Program Overview and How Recertification Works

The program focuses on two certification categories: Agriculture and Landscape. If you're not yet certified, you can find information about obtaining your Pesticide Applicator Certificate, including training and exam details, on the BC Government’s certification page.

Instead of rewriting the pesticide applicator's exam every five years, certified applicators can choose to earn Continuing Education Credits (CECs) by attending pre-approved workshops and events. This process can be completed up to 1 year past the date of expiration for the certificate. To recertify without re-examination, you must collect 20 CECs over the five-year certification period, with at least 3 CECs in each of these areas:

  • Pest Management
  • Application Technology
  • Human Health and/or Pesticide Safety
  • Continuing Education Credit (CEC) Tracking Service

BCLNA offers the CEC tracking service for free to all members, including horticulturalists, students, and the owners and employees of any BCLNA members. The cost to recertify is $25 and the member will be invoiced by BCLNA at submission of recertification. This price is set by the Ministry of Environment.

Non-members can access this service as well by paying a $125 fee, which will cover the tracking period and next recertification. This fee will be due initially for BCLNA to begin CEC tracking. BCLNA will notify of upcoming deadlines for CEC recertification but is not responsible for ensuring that enough CECs are completed. To track for the following recertification cycle, the non-member would be required pay the fee again to resume credit tracking.

    Get Started Today!

Once we have your details on file, your CECs will be automatically tracked for BCLNA courses you attend, as well as any other CEC-eligible events you notify us about.
